Ladies' Luncheon

Today I had some ladies over to enjoy the first of the fall weather. It was cool enough to build a fire. I served grilled ham and cheese on rye with a green salad and a side dish of chopped apples mixed with raisins, lemon zest, lemon juice, pie spice, maple syrup — then topped with glazed spiced pecans. The raves were numerous. My table looked a lot better than the one above. Canasta loves ham, but I don't think all that salt is good for a little doggie, so she begged to no avail.
